This artwork is inspired by the legendary Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, who is remembered not only for his unmatched skill with the blade, but for his lifelong dedication to self-mastery.

Musashi famously wielded two swords – in a style he created called Niten Ichi-ryū, or “Two Heavens, One School.” He spent his life wandering, training, and writing down his philosophy in the iconic Book of Five Rings, which remains a cornerstone of martial and strategic thought.

The Japanese quote on the artwork reads:
“The way is in training.” (道は稽古にあり – Michi wa keiko ni ari)
– a reminder that growth is a lifelong path, not a destination.
